Billy Bradford, founder of Castro Valley Pride and writer of passionate yet firm letters to the Forum. Billy looks forward to the day when LGBTQ kids are no longer told they are broken and hopeless, and are instead celebrated just the way they are!

“Billy Bradford is one of the co-founders of Castro Valley Pride, and an outspoken LGBT civil rights activist. Billy looks forward to the day when gay youth are no longer told there is something wrong with them and are instead simply embraced and loved for who they are, the way they are.

Jared Cavaness – Spanish Teacher for 7 years at CVHS.

His 200 students call him “Profe Cav”

He is both a certified scuba diver and skydiver but finds language acquisition much more exhilarating than both of those activities.

He has diverse musical tastes and knows most all of the lyrics to the songs of George Jones, Tupac, and Mana, a Mexican Band.

He is always singing while in the car, cleaning the house or making copies at school.

Jared has been married 10 years and has 3 children. He and his wife still want a couple of more kids.

Mr. Cavaness takes pride in that he is productive at work,

and reproductive at home.

Even Mobsters take pride in education. This local mobster, Steino, makes it a priority to take time out of his “eh, eh” business to support his local schools.

They can sing. They can dance. They can juggle, play the piano, and bench press 500 pounds.

Well, at least 2 of those things are true.

Ladies and gentlemen, Ali Leonardo is a Castro Valley native and a brand new 1st grade teacher at Proctor Elementary School. Alex McMurray came to Castro Valley in the fall of 2001 as a 5th grade teacher at Proctor. He is now in his 2nd year as a 1st grade teacher.

Put your hands together and welcome two of Proctor Elementary’s finest teachers who are thrilled to be here tonight as part of the Ed Foundation’s Dynamic Dinner: Ali Leonardo and Alex McMurray!

“Billy Bradford is one of the co-founders of Castro Valley Pride, and an outspoken LGBT civil rights activist who works closely with the national groups GetEQUAL and Marriage Equality USA to promote full federal equality. He is also part of the Legendary Gay Taliban, forcing unsuspecting citizens to treat gay people as though they were just like everyone else. Billy is an involved Castro Valley community member and single father of one amazing son (Desmond) who attends Santa Barbara City College. Billy looks forward to the day when gay youth are no longer told there is something wrong with them and are instead simply embraced and loved for who they are.”

Billy Bradford is one of the founders of Castro Valley Pride and is an outspoken LGBT civil rights activist with national groups Marriage Equality USA and GetEqual. He likes being involved and helping the community, so you can often find him at the Performing Arts Center, at local schools and youth athletic league events, and he is the home game announcer for Chabot Baseball. He also likes to write letters to the Forum to keep the conversations going.
