2011-2012 Officers & Committees

President - Gary Howard

The President shall be the chief executive officer of the corporation and shall, subject to the control of the Board of Directors, supervise and control the affairs of the corporation. He or she shall perform all duties incidental to this office and such other duties as provided in these Bylaws or as may be prescribed from time to time by the Board of Directors.

Vice Presidents - Neal Fong & Rita Mateo

In the case of absence or disability of the President, the Vice President shall perform all the duties of the President, and when so acting shall have all the powers of, and be subject to all the restirctrictions upon, the President. The Vice President shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as from time to time may be prescribed for him/her byt the Board of Directors or the Bylaws.

Treasurer - Jane Peluso

The Treasurer shall have charge and custody of funds of the corporation, shall deposit such funds as required by the Board of Directors, shall keep and maintain adequate and correct accounts of the corporation's properties and business transactions, shall render reports and accountings to the Directors as required by the Board of Directors, and shall in general perform all duties incident to the office of Treasurer and such other duties as may be required by law, by the Articles, or by these Bylaws or which may be prescribed from time to time by the Board of Directors.

Financial Secretary - David Fencsik

Secretary - Shelli Cmelak

The Secretary shall be the custodian of the corporate records, shall keep minutes of all meetings of the Directors, shall give all notices as are required by law or by these Bylaws, and generally, shall perform such other duties as may be required by law, by these Articles, or by these Bylaws, or which may be prescribed from time to time by the Board of Directors.

Committees

Dental Screening - Chairperson: Neal Fong. Committee Members: Anna Gee and Cathy Grandison and Rita Mateo (for Administrative and Technical Support)

The purpose of this committee is to solicit local dentists to volunteer to screen all 4th graders in February of each year.

Dynamic Dinner - Chairperson: Mark Canepa. Committee Members: Jane Peluso, Jennifer Kline, Cathy Grandison and Rita Mateo (for Administrative and Technical support)

This committee organizes all aspects of the Dynamic Dinner which is held in the Fall to raise funds for the grants.

Grants Committee - Chairperson: Jane Peluso. Committee Members: Matt Kaser, Jennifer Kline, Jim Negri and Rita Mateo (for Administrative and Technical Support)

This committee is responsible for reviewing all the grant requests and making recommendations to the CVEF Board of Directors regarding funding.

Membership/Registration/Fundraising - Chairperson: Gary Howard. Committee Members: Anna Gee, Cathy Grandison, Shelli Cmelak and Rita Mateo (for Administrative and Technical support).

This committee is responsible for acquiring members as well as all fundraising efforts.

Poetry & Art - Co-chairpersons: Winda Shimizu & Gary Howard. Committee Members: Anna Gee, Shelli Cmelak and Rita Mateo (for Administrative and Technical support)

This committee is responsible for working in conjunction with the teachers of the Middle and High Schools to put on a show that showcases the students' writing and art to depict their writings.

Scholarships - Chairperson: Neal Fong. Committee Members: Shelli Cmelak, Winda Shimizu , Jennifer Kline and Rita Mateo (for Administrative and Technical support)

This committee reviews all the scholarship applications and makes recommendations to the CVEF Board of Directors or the individual sponsors regarding winners.

Science Festival - Chairperson: Mike Farbarik. Committee Members: Gary Howard, Charles Reynes, Winda Shimizu, Lisa Hargrove, David Fencsik, Shelli Cmelak, Jennifer Kline and Rita Mateo (for Administrative and Technical support).

This committee organizes the Annual Science Festival held in May each year.

Science Lecture Series - Co-chairpersons: Matt Kaser & Gary Howard. Committee Members: Anna Gee, David Fencsik and Rita Mateo (for Administrative and Technical Support.

This committee organizes and schedules various speakers.

Stamm Investments - Chairperson: Matt Kaser. Committee Members: Alicia Utley, Neal Fong, Gary Howard and David Fencsik.

This committee determines the best investment strategy for the Stamm Scholarship endowment.
