United States Institute of Peace Grants award up to $45,000 to support research, education, and dissemination of information on international peace and conflict resolution. Deadline is October 1 (and March 1). More details are at http://www.usip.org/grants/index.html

The Baseball Tomorrow Fund provides funds to underwrite youth baseball and softball programs that serve a demonstrated need, increase number of youth participating, improve program quality, create new ways of improving programs, or provide opportunities for minorities and women. The National Art Education Foundation offers $1,000 and $5,000 grants to current members of the National Art Education Association to support art education. Deadline is October 1. More information is at http://www.naea-reston.org/programs-educationfound.html

The National Geographic Society Grosvenor Grant Program supports programs that engage K-12 students in the exploration of geography. The average grant size is $50,000-$70,000. Applicants to this program also may apply for Teacher Grants of up to $5,000 to assist teachers with implementation. Deadline is September 29. Toshiba America Science and Math Grants award $1,000 to support projects that improve science and math teaching. Funds may be used only for the purchase of hands-on materials for students. Deadline is October 1. See http://www.toshiba.com/taf/apply.html

American Honda Foundation offers grants of up to $100,000 to support projects related to math, science, the environment or technology. They also support youth job training programs. National Gardening Association and The Home Depot: NGA will award 100 Youth Garden Grants to schools and community organizations with child-centered, outdoor garden programs. Each grant winner will receive a $500 gift card from The Home Depot for the purchase of gardening materials and supplies specific to the needs of their program. Next deadline March 1, 2006. http://www.kidsgardening.com/grants.asp

NWA SOL HIRSCH EDUCATION FUND GRANTS $500 grants are available annually for teachers in grades K-12 to improve the education of their students in Meteorology - Applications are due by August 1st each year. The teachers selected will be able to use the funds to take an accredited course in atmospheric sciences, attend a relevant workshop or conference, or purchase scientific materials or equipment for the classroom. Five grants or more are possible each year thanks to the many members who have contributed to this fund in honor of Sol Hirsch who retired in 1992 after being the NWA Executive Director for 11 years. http://www.nwas.org/solhirsch.html

Prizes for Excellence in International Education are $25,000 prizes awarded by Goldman Sachs to schools that engage all or most of their students in learning about other world regions, cultures and languages. Delta Education Awards for Excellence in Inquiry-based Science Teaching will recognize and honor three full-time PreK-12 science teachers who successfully use inquiry-based science to enhance teaching and learning in their classroom. The awardees will win $1,500 towards expenses to attend the National Science Techers Association (NSTA) National Convention, and an additional $1,500 . The American-Scandinavian Foundation offers grants and fellowships to pursue three months or one year of full-time research or study in any field in Scandinavian countries. The project must make a stay in Scandinavia essential. Deadline is November 1. Details at http://www.amscan.org
