  • Nicole Solis & Erik Kellner for Canyon Middle School: Ozobot Evo Entry Kits to bring Physics into the classroom. Students will have a chance to practice coding to control the speed, direction, and velocity of their robots.
  • Jennifer Jervis for Independent: 3 small printing presses for the elementary visual art teachers. Kids will create monoprints that create a single original work of art and block printing that can create endless copies of an original design.
  • Marina Aguirresarobe Ganchegui for Vanoy Elementary: Outdoor Magnet Wall encourages children to collaborate and engage in a process of planning, testing, problem-solving, and investigating, all while exploring engineering and physical science concepts.

The new wireless microphone was put into service for CV High School’s production of Mean Girls the Musical. The microphones supported the work of 62 cast members, 8 ASL interpreters, 50+ student crew, and improved the experience of 1,500+ student audience members and 2,500+ community audience members.

My students were mesmerized by the 3D printer! They got to see it at work, and they were captivated & very excited! The Lincoln Memorial representation looks just like the real thing! 🙂 The pink sea shell was to test out the printer, but we will be doing more prints in the future!

Overall, the kids were VERY excited to see the printer at work! Thank you again!

2020-2021 Innovation Grant Winner Projects

The Castro Valley High School Wellness Center received an innovation grant for conga drums and auxiliary instruments for drum circles.  Drum circles build listening skills, collaboration, mindfulness, internal and external focus and unity among diverse groups of students.

Canyon School’s “Diversity into Harmony” Art Project.

The Castro Valley Adult and Career Education received Nystrom Maps for Adult Basic Education and GED students.  The maps are an essential teaching and learning tool for understanding geography and where events have taken place in the world.
