The Castro Valley Educational Foundation is an organization of volunteers and businesses, which raises and distributes funds to promote excellence in the education of students of the Castro Valley Unified School District. The Foundation is a not-for-profit California corporation and is exclusively educational and charitable.
The Foundation maintains continuous and open communication with the CVUSD to maximize its efforts and benefit the students and schools.
Giving to Our Students and Schools
The Foundation has several mechanisms for providing support to students and schools.
Direct Grants
With the advice of CVUSD, from time to time, the Foundation makes direct grants to the schools to fund specific needs. For example, we provided funds to replace supplies for the science classrooms and to support the school libraries.
Mini-Grants
The Foundation accepts grant applications once a year from teachers, staff, parent groups, student groups, district staff, and other school based organizations for awards up to $1,500. Proposals are reviewed for positive impact on learning, number of students involved, creativity, endurance over time, and feasibility of successful completion. (View 2008 Grant Awards!)
Scholarships for High School Seniors
Dr. Mary Jane Stamm Scholarships. The Foundation is the custodian of a very generous bequest from the late Dr. Stamm. The income earned from this endowment provides scholarships of $5,000 per year for four years.
Foundation and Other Scholarships. The Foundation has a robust scholarship program. In 2008, we established nearly a dozen scholarships for students. These include two $1,000 scholarships for college sponsored by the Foundation itself. The scholarships are awarded according to the criteria of each scholarship.
